What is truly un-American?

It constantly amazes me how frequently secession is in the news these days compared to five or six years ago. The topic is gaining momentum. There are also the enemies of secession and liberty. Those nay-sayers who claim that secession is ‘treason’. In the name of American ideals, these self-proclaimed lovers of liberty forget that the Colonies seceded from Britain, West Florida seceded from Spain, and Texas seceded from Mexico. It is clear that they have not studied history. They were probably raised in public schools, where the modern indoctrination stations claim that land was stolen from Mexico, and other bald-faced lies designed to confuse.

If secession is treason, they have problems. Secession has been a major part of the formation of the States united. We need to remind that the secession is probably one of the most American things they can do.

Heaven forbid it they considered the other “American” activities of smuggling to avoid taxes, refusing to obey unlawful taxes, tar and feathering tax collectors, gun running, growing your own food and educating your own children. These were acts that the colonists who defined the American ideal of the United States did. Think what the nation would be like if Americans engaged in the acts of their fore-fathers.

In those days, such acts were considered American and patriotic. Being loyal to the crown, passively following the government edicts of paying taxes on every transaction involving paper, allowing the government to dictate what food you eat and beverage you drink were considered treasonous.

Think about how far we have come and how the politicians in the Imperial City have turned things around. Now there are more regulations on raw milk and raw food than you can shake a stick at. They want to tax not just every form of paperwork, but every financial transaction. They want to dictate your weight, what you eat, how you live, how much energy you use. What is sad is that there are some who define the support of that swill as being ‘patriotic’ or being good Americans. Being a good American in the classic sense would be just the opposite.

The definition of treason has changed, so have the acts considered “un-American”. No longer is something un-American if it goes against the principles of our founding fathers, it is un-American if it is not ‘politically correct’.

The culture has changed. Do not let the labels of treason or un-American fool you. Study history for yourself, rather than believe the media and history channel. You need to know what really happened rather than the homogenized version being promoted in mainstream culture.

Secession in California!

Residents of the community of South Seaside Park, located near Berkeley, California are now talking secession. It seems that with 120% increase in property taxes and no 120% increase in services, they have had enough. It amazes me how many people change their tune on secession when issues impact them directly. People know that secession is the answer to many problems. I also find it amazing how some of our fellow Texans are the ones who paint secession as a bad thing.

Although modern PC historians seek to rewrite the whole secession and Republic of Texas chapters in our history, Texas managed to protect its borders, had international relations and a better economy on its own. Even when we were with the Southern States, Confederate Money during the worst days of the war was less inflated than the dollar of today’s American Empire. When you compare how many Confederate dollars it took to purchase an ounce of gold. You hear histories about how it was worthless, but consider this:

It took $500 confederate dollars to purchase an ounce of gold in 1865. Consider that in 2007 USD it is was $651.00 for an ounce of gold. Consider that today, it takes over $1200 US dollars to purchase an ounce of gold. So, when people tell you that the Confederate Dollar was worthless, compared to today’s Yankee dollar, it was pretty sound money. Considering the $1200 per ounce price of gold now should wake us up to how money has been devalued and how those historians who said the Confederate dollars were worthless led many people astray.

Heck, I’ve got a $100 dollar Confederate bond, which in today’s economy works out to about $230 US dollars. Hmmm…perhaps we need to quit reading PC authors and read some real history.

UN rules secession is legal!

This week, the United Nations’ International Court of Justice ruled that Kosovo’s declaration of Independence and secession from Serbia was legal. The secession was held as valid even though Serbia’s Constitution specifically makes secession illegal. What does this mean for the empire? PLENTY!

1) The US legal establishment has held that secession is illegal based on it not being specified as allowed in the Constitution. The grounds for that logic is now in flawed. (It was flawed before, but few legal scholars had the cajones to address it).

2) With the increasing emphasis on international law, especially with the US Supreme Court relying on it in the Lawrence V. Texas case and Elana Kagan wanting more international law applied, this precedent says that the UN trumps previous US court decisions. In this case, the UN trumps the Texas v. White ruling, which many legal pundits cite as case law on the illegality of secession, yet had they read the case, it does not make secession illegal, it just puts so many strings on it, that it is cumbersome. It was never ruled that secession is illegal.

3) The SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) will need to decide whether US case law or international case law will be its standard. If it goes with international, then secession is legal. If it goes with US, then the Constitution and US law still has some power.

4) If you are an ardent secessionist, you realize that there does not need to be another secession vote by any state. They just need to be enacted again. The question is whether the states will have the courage to do so.

P.S. Is it any surprise that the Obama regime is now quickly spinning the Kosovo decision as a unique situation that is not applicable elsewhere?????

A Name and a Place among the Nations of the Earth

A NAME AND A PLACE AMONG THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH

Secession talk is spreading like wildfire across the country. Polls tell us that support for the States reasserting their sovereignty under the 10th Amendment is higher than ever. Financial and political failure and ineptitude point up the invalidity of large nation-states and empires in the early 21st century.

The prospect of devolution cuts across political and ideological lines; left and right in the U.S. both support measures to restrain the illicit power of Washington, DC. Nor is the anti-DC movement restricted to one particular historic American region. Vermont, Alaska, and Hawaii bear this out.

But as a native Southerner, I am primarily concerned about the South and her future. I love my own people better than anyone else. Will our cultural inheritance, our liberty, and our people be best served by remaining within an increasingly alien and hostile “union” or by going our own way as an independent confederation of States?

There are plenty of well-intentioned voices suggesting that the South remain part of the current political, cultural, social, and economic arrangement. Within that arrangement these people apparently hope to defend our Southern inheritance of liberty in all its tangible and non-tangible manifestations. Their great hope is to convince the ruling elite that they must reform themselves for the betterment of all, including the traditional South. Furthermore, theirs is a tacit acknowledgement that if only the South’s foes would see the truth, then they would embrace our Southern inheritance as the panacea for all of America’s ills.

Permit me now to object. The South’s elitist enemies do not care about truth or about how sublime we think our way of life to be. On the contrary, they consider us as expendable rednecks. They care about power and power alone. The reason they view our flags and other concrete symbols of our civilization as threatening, divisive, and offensive is because the ideas and people that these symbols represent are threatening, divisive, and offensive to their worldview. And all challenges to their power must be eradicated by whatever means necessary. Do you really believe that the South’s enemies are open to reasonable discussion?

When we and our symbols cease to be threatening, divisive, and offensive to our enemies, then it can mean only one thing. We have lost. For our own sake and that of our posterity, may we always be a stumbling block to our enemies. May we always be prepared to fight tooth and nail for our land and our people.

The voluntary Union of sovereign States given us by the Founders is now a dead thing of the past. The revolution that destroyed the Constitution and our old republic has come and gone and most folks do not even realize it. What many “conservatives” today seek to conserve is only a pale imitation of long departed principles and the way of life they once informed. In short, the current polity is well past meaningful reformation. Adhering to it in the hope that it can be reformed is a suicidal course for the South and her people. The indisputable evidence of this is before our eyes daily, yet many are still blinded to it.

The South is now ruled by an alien class and ideology that are completely hostile to our historic way of life. Our values, mores, and ethics are mocked. Our people have become nothing more than voters in rigged and meaningless four-year election cycles; consumers of foreign-made trinkets and poisoned food products; cannon fodder for the empire’s aggressive foreign military campaigns; and sheep to be fleeced for higher and higher taxes and immoral bailouts of the elites. It is clear that the descendants of America’s proud and hardy founding stock have meekly acquiesced in their dispossession and a resulting third-class status behind loud and domineering minority groups and Third World immigrants. But we still smile and hope for the best.

The imperial executive branch in Washington has implemented a police state at home and a quagmire of conflict abroad. Congress rubber-stamps whatever the executive branch desires. The courts mock truth, justice, and God at every turn. Our own State governments, poisoned finally by the miasmic vapors from the Potomac, have become the preserves of toadies, hacks, and sycophants who envy what Washington, DC, is able to do to the rights and liberties of the people. The media ridicule us for our dress and speech, manners and mores. Our schools and colleges have long lapsed from our control, teaching our young to despise their ancestors and themselves. Big business funds our enemies to the tune of hundreds of millions a year. The Founders’ Constitution is long dead and buried, replaced with a false document forged in the wake of the bloody subjugation of the Confederacy. I ask you, then, why should we stay and subject ourselves to the machinations of this organized criminal enterprise in DC? Could we not do better on our own? At the very least, we would be ruling our own house according to our own accepted standards.

The Southern Cause has long been ridiculed as the Lost Cause. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. The real Lost Cause is the American Empire and any attempts to reform it. Southern independence is the only realistic hope we have of leaving our own children and grandchildren a bright and prosperous future. Without our independence, we will have no way of turning back the revolution that holds the South captive. Do you really think that the socialist-fascist revolutionaries are really through with us? Do you think they will halt their perverse agenda short of total victory? And that total victory means the final destruction of all that you, dear fellow Southerner, hold dear—family, faith, and freedom.

For those timid souls who desire to take the safe and familiar path that leads to half measure, we in The League of the South bid you to rethink your position and join with us. From the start, we have been staunch defenders of the whole measure of independence. God willing, we shall so remain.

Every man must choose for himself the path he will tread. It is human nature to seek out the easy way. That is what our enemies count on us to do. The familiar course is comfortable and reassuring and is lined with every sort of physical, emotional, and spiritual allurement. But in the end it leads to Hell. Conversely, the path that begins dark, dreary, and foreboding leads ultimately, as Scripture tells us, to the light. Those who have trod this way have often suffered mightily (examine the tribulations of Jefferson Davis, not to mention the ultimate example of our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus), and in their suffering they have found redemption for themselves, their people, and their civilization. Walking the hard, ominous path is called duty. No one who performs his duty ever really loses. Perhaps he is seen as a loser according to the world’s standards, but not according to the perfect standards of Providence.

We do not live in the past, but the past lives in us. By all worldly accounts, our Confederate ancestors lost. Their efforts to establish an independent South did not bear fruit from 1861-65. But the ebb and flow of future events are unknown to mortal man. The seeds sown by those noble souls some 140 years ago, watered by their blood, sweat, and tears, and superintended by the unmovable hand of Providence may yet spring to life in our own day.

If those men and women of the Confederacy were right in their day, then we who seek independence for the South are right in ours. Let us do our duty in all things, great and small, in the sure hope that the God of our fathers will indeed vindicate a just cause.

May God answer the prayer of the humble Lee when he asked that the South be granted a name and place among the nations of the earth. Southern independence now!

Deo Vindice. Resurgam.

Debates over books and governors

Yesterday was an eventful day in Texas. The State Board of Education heard from people who are wanting faith and mentions of faith removed from textbooks. The tired and worn argument of ’separation of church and state’ were again used to remove mention of faith. Having written a book on Texas history, I do not know how they can tell the history of Texas without mentioning ‘faith’. Freedom of religion was one of the reasons cited for leaving Mexico. The Mexican government wanted all to swear to a single religious loyalty. They imprisoned or punished those of other faiths (when they were not outright killed). It was one of the major issues in the War of Texas Secession from Mexico.

My guess is that those who think that Texas was stolen from Mexico are closely kin to those who think religion/faith has no part in Texas history. The ‘open minded’ individuals who want censorship and the removal of faith also want the mention of the religious revivals taken from the text books. The Bible even talks about those who are ashamed of Him and how they will be considered by Him. There have been several great awakenings of Christian religion in America. They totally transformed the nation and it government. I guess the liberals do not want to acknowledge ‘true’ history. Whether or not they want to acknowledge it, it happened. One of those great revivals occurred during the War of Secession which led many men to convert and change the moral fabric of the nation. The revival broke out on the battlefields and in the prisons throughout the nation. If it was a political movement, I am sure that the liberals would include it. Since God received the glory rather than man, they dismissed it.

The debate was intense. The board did choose to remove Henry Cisneros (whose involvement in the Countrywide housing and finance scandal has been addressed several times here). They also removed Cesar Chavez, Ma Ferguson (probably because she was a Christian who stood up against evolution, and also embarresed many of the Democrats).

There was also the gubernatorial debate. In the debate, Perry managed to side step the issue of nullification, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson defended Roe v. Wade. Her defense of Roe v. Wade given the scam behind the case is reason enough to dump her. Debra Medina made a good showing in the debate and actively advocated the use of nullification in dealing with some of the issues. The fact that ‘nullification’ and ’secession’ are now becoming part of the discussion is good news. People are waking up to the viability of these options.

Secession is the answer to many problems

The media has recently been filled with talk about secession.

A pro-secession article in Front Porch Republic.

Some of pundits suspect that the secession talk in Texas is a smoke screen for Perry v. Hutchinson. Some are using it to make Larry Kilgore look bad.

Cary Clack of MY SA (San Antonio) did a column on the topic, which was mis-informed and misleading.

Such clunkers as “We’ve tried this before, and it wasn’t a good idea then.” (Which time, when we seceded from Mexico or when we seceded from the united States? Although he may say it was not a good idea, he forgets that over 70% of the people voted FOR secession. It was the will of the people across Texas. )

This one had me rolling: “There’s not a single native-born Texan pushing for secession who has anything to credibly say about being oppressed to a black South African who lived under apartheid; an East German who lived behind the Berlin Wall; an East European pressed under the Soviet thumb; someone suffering in Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe; a Chinese citizen; or to African Americans born in the first half of the 20th century who didn’t push for secession but for the true meaning of the Constitution.” (If one is native born, they will not have been an East German, South African, or Chinese. The ‘true meaning’ of the Constitution. I wonder how he chooses to define that one. By the definitions of the founders or of the judicial activists?)

Here’s another uninformed corker: “And you know what Texas becomes if successful in leaving the Union: a Third World country that will struggle to finance and defend itself and would be lucky if the United States doesn’t tear up the highways it paid for that run through it.” (Cary, come on. If Texas left, it would be the size of France and have a GDP in the top 1/4 of the world. It would only be third world if dictators continue instituting policies that increase inflation, nationalize industries, tax the wealth out of the nation and want to spew propaganda unfiltered to the youth of the nation).

There are also many of the uninformed who claim that secession is illegal (Wrong!) or that those that talked secession while the Bush II regime was in office would have been shipped to Gitmo (Worng again. We have been advocating secession for 15+ years as the solution to the problems. There are very few problems that can not be solved with removing the feds from the every institution in the South!)

There is even a poll to vote on the issue on Twitter.

In reviewing the debate, there are many ill-informed who say secession is illegal or something of that ilk. There are also many who are doom and gloom claiming that secession wouldn’t work.  Bear in mind that what is not working is the democratic system that is currently in place. The elected representatives are not listening to their constituents,  accepting money from many sources, and not conducting business in a Constitutional manner. History bears out that the elected representatives are to take their time and seriously debate the policies enacted. Under Pelosi, this is not happening. The Constitution is not being respected or adhered to. The nation has been plunged into deep debt, social programs (which are not authorized by the Constitution) are increasing drastically. While in the midst of such a crisis, when the Congress should be seriously debating these matters, many issues and items are not even allowed to come to the floor for debate. The present government system is not working.

The liberals either belittle or attack the idea of secession. They need the taxes that the working population pays. Secession is a threat to tax collection. Secession is a threat to the solvency of the nation. With the nation borrowing from China, is it any wonder that the regime will be flying the Chinese communist flag over the White HouseThe Chinese are at least waking up and are now wanting money in the form of IMF notes. They do not like secession, since it means that Tiawan has legitimacy. They also have to deal with the secession of Tibet from their control. Secession is a threat to the many.

We need more debate, serious debate on the issue. We need to discuss turning over government buildings, port facilities, and other items. Rather than using it as a threat, look at when they want it to take effect.

Why can’t we leave?

Whenever I pose the question, “Why can’t we leave?” (referring to Texas leaving the Union), the answer is often, “Because it is illegal” . They then make reference to the staged case of Texas v. White, as their source. Had they read the ruling, in typical government bureaucratic style, it does not say secession is illegal. It merely adds more layers of government approval before it can happen.

In some cases, the responder makes reference to the vote where Texas re-joined the Union. What they often leave out is that many voters were not allowed to vote in that election due to the 14th amendment. The disqualification of voters is typically a civil rights concern, especially when it is done in disreagrd of the law, but ‘certain’ ethnic groups were disqualified from voting in the aftermath of the war, but since they had no voice at the time, they were not allowed to vote or speak out.

Even in the first election to join the stinkin’ Union, there were Federal agents working behind the scenes to meddle with the election process. Even the first election was not a fair one. If one wishes to be techinical, both elections to join the Union were riggedl in one form or another. This is an item that one is rarely told in government schools.

Another item that they don’t tell you in the schools is that neither Jefferson Davis nor Pendleton Murrah surrendered the government of Texas to the Yankees. It was conquered, not surrendered. The authority of the vote of the people was never surrendered. With that in mind, it is not necessary to secede from the Union again. All that is needed is to reaffirm the original secession, transfer all federal property over to Texas, and decide how to settle Texas’ share of the federal debt.

(One idea is to sell the federal lands, and then take those profits and apply them to the debt. The hard part is that the Hussein regime has made any settlement of the debt question difficult. At the same time, with the legitimacy of his office holding being in quesiton, the legitimacy of Texas’ share of the debt is also of dubious legal standing. If the money lenders in China knew the precarious legal situation he is in, they would not have leant him the money they have.  An axiom of common law is that when laws are passed in a deceitful manner or in disreagrd of the law, they are of dubious standing. )

Back to the question. “Why can’t we leave? ” We can, the more important question to answer is “When do we leave?” “How do we get started?”

How will you celebrate Secession Day?

Soon 4 July will be upon us again. The 223rd annual celebration of the States from Britain. Although often titled as “Independence Day”, few realize that it was about secession. The States did not want to invade London, or overthrow Parliament. They wanted to pull away from the high taxes and illogical policies of Britain. Many saw King George III as maniacal in his policies. Since he was king, he thought that he could pass taxes and policies in disregard of law and previous agreements.

In honour of our secession, we need to celebrate the whole idea of secession. We need to celebrate the tar and feathering of British customs (tax) officials. We need to protest the militarization of the States, we need to celebrate the right to bear arms along with freedom of speech. It is a day to exercise your liberties. You can praise them, but that is not the same as exercising them.

In Texas we can celebrate the independence of our people from Spain, Britain, Mexico, and the Yankees . We have much to celebrate. If you really want to celebrate, do something to further secession and celebrate it.

If Iraq can celebrate “National Sovereignty Day” and Honduras celebrates being free of a dictator, perhaps it is time we need to celebrate our “National Sovereignty Day” as well.

The cost of Union

Many of the critics of secession claim that the South could not make it in today’s world.  Rather than take a closer look at the numbers (which has been addressed before, and is available in the Grey Book, but for refreshers, the Confederate States would be the 13th most populous nation and have the 5th largest GDP in the world [somewhere between France and Italy]), let us examine what it costs to stay in the union of States. The regime of the usurper has taken steps to change the economy. He has also made it very clear that debt is only going to increase.  Here is an article in the Economist that addresses the debt issue and how expensive it is. Can Americans afford to stay “in the union?”. At the present rate of spending and debt, the government is already broke. It would be more expensive to “stay” in the union that it would be to leave the union. At present rates the debt is approaching 106% of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). With such a burden, a nation cannot function in terms of setting up effective policies. By 2030, this figure could be at 200%. Having a good GDP does one little good, if it is all used up on the debt of the union and the giveaway programs they want in place.

The CONgress has been spending your money like a high stakes monopoly game. The problem is that the debt is real. When Obama and others wake up tomorrow it will still be there. 20 years from now, our children will be waking up with their children and going to work in order to pay for the debt this generation of politicians has created. The States cannot afford this national government. They cannot afford a nation that gives money to terrorist groups like Hamas, funds abortions around the world, keeps wars going around the world and wants to give jobs to criminal immigrants.

If you think secession is expensive, it is more expensive to stay in this union.

Have you had enough yet?

Are you in debt enough yet?

The answer is simple-leave. Secede from the Union. Go it on our own. We would have laws that reflected our values. We would be able to bring our sons and daughters home. We could stop the debt monster before it eats up everything you work for.
