Pat Buchanan was right!

In Pat Buchanan’s “culture war” speech delivered in Houston in 1992, he addressed the issue of cultural conflict. Many of the changes he warned of in that speech have come to pass, women are now in combat, homosexuals have demanded equal legal status, religious schools are discriminated against, Christians are discriminated against and radical feminism is more mainstream. The Attorney General has taken a stand concerning hate crimes and how they are used against certain groups. The head of the Hussein regime now wants to persuade ALL Americans to accept homosexuality.

There are still fellow citizens, perhaps neighbors or even family members and loved ones, who still hold fast to worn arguments and old attitudes,”

Folks, it is clear, the head of the Hussein regime refers to the Christian values as “worn arguments and old attitudes”.  It can not be much clearer. He does not regard Biblical authority. He does not share the same values, he does not respect those with different values. If you do not agree with his view of the world, he regards you as ‘wrong’, or having ‘worn arguments’ or as having ‘old values’. If he refers to Christianity as ‘old values’, I shudder to consider what are the ‘new values’.

The Usurper’s statement makes it clear that the empire has gone onto the offensive in the culture war. The regime is attacking Christianity and Southern culture with a vengeance. Bear in mind that in 1980, women did not serve in combat, homosexuality was a pathology (and sin), traditional marriage was the norm and the nation did not control guns, electricity or toilets. Has human nature changed that much in 25 years or have social engineers redefined what is ‘acceptable’ ? The government has gone in the wrong direction, when it now tries to micromanage our lives and attack the values and culture of Southrons.

The culture war that Buchanan warned of is now upon us in full scale assault. It is sad the the regime is attacking traditional values with great zeal. The ideas of the one man one woman marriage, the Confederate flag, free speech, moral absolutes, right to bear arms, or America being a “Christian” nation are now all passe according to the regime. They have constructed a control grid of volunteer slave labor camps,  lifestyle change police, control grid of medical information, control grid of healthcare, control grid of energy, etc. These control grids amount to the culture war getting ready to ratchet things up.

Sometimes it helps to look around and realize how much things have changed, how many freedoms have been lost, and how sick the administration is.

Freedom of speech in Texas

Texas has a long tradition for freedom of speech. In the early days of the Republic, citizens had tremendous freedom of speech. People were able to just about anything they wanted to. During those days, lack civility in language was often condemned by the decent law abiding people of the community. Citizens knew what was acceptable talk and what was not. When the censure of the ‘law-abiding’ citizenry did not keep people in line, duels and the threat of lawsuits did. In the early Republic, taking people to law was a common occurrence. Although this practice was rampant for a while, the law abiding citizenry often looked down on such actions like frivolous lawsuits as well. (I know all lawyers think the suits they file are legit, and they claim they have never heard of a frivolous suit.  Such lawyers need to wake up to common sense and ask a man on the street, who often have a better sense of what is frivolous and what is not).

The practice of dueling also made society more respectful of each other as well. Another freedom, the right to bear arms, also made society more respectful. Texans placed a high value on their arms and the RIGHT to carry them.

Although the local Bible preaching church at one time educated people of what decent behavior is, with fewer churches preaching from the Bible, coupled with the decreasing respect and fear of God, this part of the checks and balances on freedom of speech is no longer in place.

When there is no checks and balance on freedom of speech, the government often resorts to force as a way to put limits on what people say. Rather than having ‘freedom’, the subject are allowed ’speech codes’. These speech codes dictate what is and is not allowed to say and address. The idea of using a code or law to know what should be said or not said is not new. The Bible did this as well. What is different is that it is based on the opinions or policies of a bureacrat, rather than having the authority of the Word of God behind it.

Freedom of speech is a tradition in Texas. What has changed is how ‘decent speech” is defined and  handled. Texas has lost a great deal as society has decided to use other methods of “respectful speech”.

Although there are many fantasies about the “Wild West” or “Old days in Texas”, the reality, was that people had a respect for authority. Decent speech was controlled by self-control rather than a government using force or the threat of force to limit what is said.  There is still some freedom of speech left, which must be protected.  We have the choice of self-control or “law of the jungle” in trying to keep our freedoms.

Has Independence become a forbidden word?

In the latest scandal mongering from the democratic party, concern is being raised about Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s association with the Alaska Independence Party. The California Majority Report made efforts to link Palin with the League of the South, comparing this to the association of Obama with the Weathermen and Bill Ayers. The Weathermen were terrorists who conducted bombings. The Alaska Independence Party and other Independence groups like the League of the South and the Second Vermont Republic want to leave the Union and its policies, rather than blowing things up. The California majority is confused. They can not tell the difference between people who want to leave and those who want to destroy. If they can not tell the difference between the two, there are some real problems in California. This is another attempt at creating false associations. They have essentially made “Independence” a bad word, filled with negative connotations.

Besides being a poor job of mixing apples with oranges, it does show the state of thinking that exists within the leftist leaning  politics of the empire. Within their mindset, the idea of independece is seen as a threat. To have free thinking people who hold to values that differ from theirs is unacceptable. This is further exemplified by the criticisms related to Palin’s theology regarding creationism and her association with guns. They want a unified groupthink, where the population all thinks in the same manner.  Any deviation from their way of thinking is seen as threatening. Free thinkers remind them that they are not in control. There is competition, which they can not tolerate. There are alternate worldviews. Although they talk ‘multicultural’, they really mean ‘monocultural’ in terms of people from many cultures and backgrounds sharing the same mindset and values. The rapd attacks of the leftist columnists show very clearly that there is little tolerance for other viewpoints. They will allow conservatives and Southrons to have their views, but only if they do not have any power. When such people are in power, they bacome scared.

The values of the South, which include man-woman marriage, Biblical worldviews, freedom to bear arms, and wanting no government busy bodies are not tolerated or liked by the leftist media. Despite the opening of the democratic convention with prayer, they are not the big tent, open arms group they portray.

We need a nation where Independence is cherished and valued. We need a nation where Biblical truths are not ridiculed, we need a nation where the freedom to bear arms is respected, government is minimal, people keep the money they make and family values (like having more than 2.5 children) is accepted.

Where are American values? Looking at Michael Savage

Radio personality Michael Savage has been involved in a lawsuit involving CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations). A Clinton appointed Federal judge, Susan Illston threw Savage’s suit against CAIR out of court. In one of his responses, Savage said, “I may remove it to Alabama, for example, where maybe I could get a fair trial – maybe where there’s still America. It certainly doesn’t exist here in California.” When I saw this, it made my heart proud. He recognizes that the values and culture that exists in the South are those that were once associated with the goodness of America.

What are these values?

-Respect of law. People want the government to abide by the common sense, organic law. They want the principles of Common Law rather than Civil law respected and enforced. Although there is a respect of law, when the law is absurd or not of local origin, it is resented (e.g. laws that are dictated and forced on the populous from other sources, such as wild court rulings. When it is law generated by the local and State government, there is greater respect for it). They also believe that there are times when State Law should trump Federal Law, especially when Federal lawmakers are out of touch with reality.

-Respect of family values, especially traditional family values. Many of these values go back to idea that each man’s home is his castle. Home was seen as a special place where he could exercise his values and speak freely within its confines. The family is allowed to do this up to the point that they abuse the other members of the family. A family is also allowed to protect themselves from threats. The family also decides what is in their best interest concerning health, diet, and religious beliefs.

-Respect of privacy. The whole argument of Roe v. Wade was based on a respect of privacy. Although the judges making that ruling found privacy as a protected right in the 14th amendment, somehow the modern judges can no longer find that ‘right to privacy’ anymore.

-Respect of free speech. The south has a long tradition of free speech. Even during the War for Southern Independence, the press was still given their freedom, whereas many northern presses were shut down or restrained. The free speech is to be respectful and not full of cuss words, since that is condemned by scripture, dishonorable and in poor taste.

-Freedom to bear arms. Guns and the freedom to buy, sell and trade them has been a vital part of southern values for a long time. The idea that people can defend themselves against attackers and criminals are essential.

-Respect for Private Property. In the south, people value private property. They value their ability to own it and protect it. What is theirs is theirs. It is seen as an infringement for government to tax it or claim ownership of the private property. They also have the right to protect that property.

-Freedom of religion. Texas fought for freedom of religion. What is resented is when religion is forced on people against their will. When various groups are not allowed to speak or share their beliefs there is something wrong. When people are killed in the name of religion, be it via jihad or abortion bombings, such actions although motivated by religious ideas are wrong. Honor killings in the name of religion are wrong and frowned upon. This freedom also means that the government should not dictate what gets preached in the pulpits. Over the years, there has been some major encroachments by government into the churches.

These are a few of the values of the South and her people.
