An undeclared war is happening in Texas

Although the shooting incident across the Rio Grande from El Paso garnered news, another war is also underway in Texas. This is the war between the regime’s EPA regional director Al Armendariz and the authority of the State of Texas. In the latest salvo, Armendariz pulled the permits for two refineries in Texas City. His action was essentially that of the fedgov empire countermanding the authority of the State of Texas.

Armendariz was an engineering professor at SMU prior to his appointment. Besides Texas City refineries, he also pulled permits on Flint Hills in Corpus Christi and over 121 other facilities across Texas. Armendariz’s territory contains over half of the nation’s refineries. His pulling of permits and countermanding State authority puts the nation at risk in terms of energy availability. His actions are also based on his interpretation of the Clean Air Act. Armendariz’s actions come after initially threatening to pull the permits on 40 refineries. It seems that he made good on his threat and then some, right in the middle of the BP crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. The pulling of permits amounts to the fegov taking over the regulation of these 122 facilities.

His action of pulling permits does not immediately shut down the plants, but rather forces them to submit to the application process again. This is bureaucracy at it finest. The empire is declaring war on the sovereignty of Texas. During a time when jobs are scarce, the regime takes action to loose many thousands of other jobs in Texas. Although Perry is furious over the situation, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken by Texas in the ‘undeclared war’.

The empire hates Texas as shown by its actions. (Remember the regime’s refusal to help Texas with the border, while sending some to Arizona?). The Union of States is making it clear that Texas is not wanted the way it is. They will only allow us to play if we vote how they want us to and remain emasculated in terms of economic recovery. They do not want us to have any advantage in terms of hard work or skills.

More government meddling in North Texas!

North Texas has more than its share of meddling Statists who want the empire to have more influence and power in Texas. One of the meddling Statists is Al Armendariz. He is a former chemical engineering professor at SMU and presently the head of EPA’s Region 6, which includes Texas (Gee, just like reconstruction, we are no longer viewed as a State, but as a nameless region). Mr. Armendariz does not like the Ozone related to the cement plants in North Texas. He views the engines used at the plants as a problem. His solution-MORE FEDERAL POLICIES. He wants to tell Texans how to operate their businesses. Even though he served as a college professor, he believes he knows what is best for Texas businesses and Texans.

It is not just the cement plants that will suffer. The EPA regulations are now putting public transportation in North Texas in jeopardy. The EPA under the leadership of Armendariz also wants to slow down if not stop drilling for natural gas in the area as well. Although the regime talks clean energy, such policies which hamper energy development are stifling economic growth for Texas. Remember to look at what they do rather than what they say. In Armendariz’s case, the EPA is being used to stop natural gas exploration, stop mass transit, override state regulatory powers and slow down if not stop cement production in the area. That is not job or growth stimulus, that is retarding growth of everything but the agencies power.

Fortunately, Governor Rick Perry and Texas has filed suit in federal court to slow down the power grab and contest CO2 being considered a ‘greenhouse pollutant’. The logic of asking the fox to render a wise judicial decision concerning the hen house escapes me, but at least he took a stand.

To make matters worse, the head of the regime is now claiming that the recent North Texas snows was due to man-made climate change. So here is a politician and political activist who is now claiming to have scientific credibility.

Once more the solution is LESS government meddling, NOT more government meddling.

What are they up to now?

In the latest example of federal meddling, the EPA has announced that it will soon go after the industries of North Texas. Claiming that its goal is to reduce the ozone, the agency plans on stepped up enforcement in the North Texas area. (Apparently someone in Texas has upset the regime). The claim is that the reductions are necessary to have compliance and to reduce health care costs. The same article claims that the Houston-Galveston area is in compliance (what a joke?). The only reason it is in compliance is that they have not included the Houston Ship Channel/ Bayport in the equation for pollution. (could it be because there are many Chinese companies with a stake in those areas? Could it be related to how some of the democratic representatives in that area [i.e. Gene Green] has carried water for the regime and supported its policies? Hmmm… We know that they are undergoing a 1.2 BILLION dollar expansion…..any connection? Hmmmm… There has also been a MASSIVE construction boom in the area around the port with many distribution centers being constructed. This massive construction is odd considering that the US lost another 85,000 jobs in December.

The events at Bayport do not make sense. Why is there a clamping down in industry in North Texas, while industry and construction are going full bore in the Houston-Galveston area? I am sure that if one follows the money, they will find answers to it.

All this adds up to more federal meddling in Texas. The empire has shown that it does not care about the interest of Texas. It has repeatedly refused to allow Texas to handle health care on its own. It has taken steps to take over our healthcare, tax us more on the energy we use, and wants to tell us how to live. We need less federal meddling and more liberty.

Although founding father James Wilson declared that the purpose of government was to expand our liberties, under this regime, we have a monster that does just the opposite. Instead of expanding liberties, it contracts them.

Texas stands up!

Government schools in North Texas have taken the gutsy stand of not  presenting the Obama speech to the students. What parents often do not realize is that besides the speech is the curriculum material that frames what he says. The teachers will be introducing and framing his rhetoric. That Texas schools would buck the trends and not fall for the party line is a good thing to see. Besides Texas, several other districts in the States of Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and the Southern States of Virginia and Missouri have decided not to air indoctrinate the speech. There is also verbal outcries in Florida to the indoctrination speech. The resistance in Florida is even coming from Broward County.

It seems that across the empire, the citizenry are resisting and opposed to the regime.
