Eddie Bernice Johnson Bending (breaking) the rules again!

Lookie, Lookie the latest that the ‘most ethical CONgress ever produced. Texas CON-gress Critter Eddie Bernice Johnson admits breaking the rules and steering scholarships to relatives, (two of them being her grandchildren), and children of employees. This is a blatant violation of the rules, which she initially denied breaking. She further denied any favoritism in the awarding of the scholarships.

This is the same Eddie Bernice Johnson who was to intrude on how Texas selects its textbooks with her H. Res 1593. First she bends the rules to get her relatives in the schools, NOW she wants to tell the schools what they can teach. Talk about hubris!

We need to tell people about this woman and what she is doing to Texas. She has done little to protect north Texas from the meddling of the EPA. She has no problem with the Fedgov meddling, whether it be with your light bulbs, your health care, your cars or other matters. Texas does not need Eddie Bernice Johnson in office. She has done more damage than good.

Who’s working for you?

State Attorney General Greg Abbott has been busy. He has filed lawsuits in federal court against the EPA and also another one protesting the moratorium on offshore drilling. He is taking a stand for Texas and the people of Texas. He has also defended his stance against the federal government on their takeover of the health care system. We need a fighter and he is taking stands for Texas.

Contrast Gregg Abbott with CONgress Critters Eddie Bernice Johnson, Gene Green Rueben Hinojosa and Sylvestre Reyes. Ms Johnson submitted the bill H. Res 1593 IH on July 30. The bill seeks to put Texas curriculum under the oversight of a national board. The phrasing is “Supporting academically based social studies curriculum standards for the Nation’s elementary and secondary education public school textbooks.”

The term ‘academically based curriculum standards’ is a fancy sounding way of saying she wants a national committee to make these choices, RATHER than the people elected by Texans who are accountable to Texans. Rather than fighting the federal creep, she and her cronies are pushing it. They want NO accountability to Texas voters for textbooks. Under this bill, it will be the academics who decide what your children are indoctrinated with.

Her bill sounds nice, with talk about consulting with scholars. Bear in mind, they will be hand picked friends of who support the PC agenda, rather than those who present facts and real history. Rather than present which people were actually important, they will have representation of various groups and values, blah, blah, blah.

The bill amounts to local control of textbooks being stripped from the voters. It is an attack on the State Board of Education and conservative values. It is an attack on Texas values. It is an attack on you, a reducing of your voice and reduction in accountability. The arrogant CONgress critters think that you are too dumb and ignorant to have such choices. They think that you need their help. We do not need sell-out like Eddie Bernice Johnson, Reyes and Gene Green. They have stood with the Obama regime on many policies. They have pushed the Obama agenda. Rather than stand for Texas like Greg Abbott, they sell out Texas. Gene Green, Bernice and their ilk have taken away parental controls. They are selling Texas up the river so that we become the mindless masses they wish us to be.

Remember who’s working for Texas, who is working for you and who (Gene Green, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Sylvestre Reyes, Reuben Hinojosa) are working against you and Texas come November.

PS-After the original post, information came out regarding members of CONgress who were also “Democratic Socialists” (in other words admit to being members of a socialist party). Among the member ship were Representative Shiela Jackson-Lee (18th Congressional District) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (30th Congressional District). Is it any wonder, given the policies they support?

Remember where you came from

If you are a citizen living in Gaonzales, Fayette, Austin, Burleson, or DeWitt Counties, you need to be concerned with the State Board of Education Election. One of the candidates for District #10, which includes your counties is Dr. Judy Jennings She has a doctorate in Educational Psychology, lives in Austin-nuff said!). She is a BIG supporter of the Thomas Jefferson Movement, which seeks the removal of conservative values from textbooks. By hiding behind Thomas Jefferson, they hide the real agenda. If Dr. Jennings and the other members of the Thomas Jefferson Movement were honest and open about their agenda, the picture would be different. By focusing on an abridged version of Jefferson, they draw attention away from their real agenda. Bear in mind that Jefferson has NOT been removed, rather his role as a founding father has been emphasized rather than this ’separation of church and state’ position which liberals love. I doubt that the liberals embrace Jefferson’s love of guns, small national government, low taxes, and strong state government.

Let us consider what was changed. The new changes present the impact of President Johnson’s “Great Society” programs both positive and negative.

How government programs have destroyed traditional family structures in some communities.

How affirmative action has created problems.

How the US interned Japanese, German and Italians during world war II

How the Black Panthers and Marcus Garvey impacted civil rights

Effects of illegal immigration

Importance of Free Enterprise

and others

I encourage you to see for yourself what changes were proposed. Rather than join the masses clamoring about Thomas Jefferson, find out for yourself. It will be up to you voters to decide whether you want your children to remember the Alamo as a stand taken by imperialist slave holders who wanted to steal Texas from Mexico as advocated by the mother of San Antonio’s mayor or if the Alamo was a response by freemen, legal citizens of Mexico and immigrants rising to stand against the cultural cleansing and tyrannical policies of an murdering dictator. The decision is yours. The counties that will be deciding have a long history of freedom. Remember where you came from when it comes time to vote.

Do you want a history that praises big government, ridicules Christian influences and praises socialists and socialism or do you want truth and freedom to think. The choice is yours. Who do you trust with your child’s education?

Truth makes them scream

I find myself chuckling at all the hoopla the liberals are making about the changes in Texas textbooks. They are screaming because due to the changes made by the State Board of Education (SBOE). They object to the government being called a republic rather than a democracy, they scream because Jefferson Davis is compared side by side to Abraham Lincoln. They complain because the board did not see Cesar Chavez, hip-hop music and other radical liberals along with their ideas worthy of mention in a history text.

They have several campaigns to stop these changes underway. They have already paraded out college student stooges in coordinated T-shirts emblazoned with “Save our History” (bear in mind that that slogan is nothing more than a campaign of the History channel, so the shirts amount to corporate sponsorship and advertising. Imagine if they were all wearing matching Goldman-Sachs T-shirts embalzoned with “save our banks” and then you will understand the ludicrous picture this really is).

They have enlisted Vermont Public Radio in their efforts as well. When was the last time you heard straight news, without a liberal slant from anything on NPR?

The efforts to confuse the people continue with the Jefferson Movement. Although many Southrons were strong Jeffersonians, the view of Jefferson they espouse is very different than the real Thomas Jefferson, who strongly supported Secession, Gun Rights, States Rights and even advocated that any government official can declare government acts as ‘unconstitutional’. Imagine if Texas courts began declaring the policies of the Obama administration as ‘unconstitutional’ based on Jeffersonian ideas? I would love to see that Jefferson presented in the schools, yet, the version they will get is the one that advocated the “wall of separation between church and state” along with his admiration of the Koran (even though he was the first President to go to war against an Islamic nation).

Even Chuck Norris has weighed in on the issue in support of truth and preserving history, including the Judeao-Christian roots and actual events. He stands opposed to those who want to re-write history according to liberal world views.

The battle rages. The liberals are using Thomas Jefferson as a lightning rod, but don’t be fooled. They are wanting hip-hop, Cesar Chaavez, down grading of Christian influence and other changes to the textbooks all in the sacred name of ‘progress’. The Nashville Agrarians saw the danger of the use of the term ‘progress’ often being used to hide the true agenda. They are screaming at the fact that Texas students and others may learn the truth concerning culture and values.

Thomas Jefferson Window Dressing

Here in Texas another act of political revisionism and manipulation is underway. In the latest round of manipulation, a new group has formed, calling itself the Thomas Jefferson Movement. The name sounds good. Like many liberal ideas, it sounds good. Although this group talks like they support Thomas Jefferson and his ideals, how far will they really go? Will they see to it that his support of secession (mind you, in his first innagural address, he reaffirmed the right of secession-but since you went to government schools, you probably were not taught that part, only the selected portion of the letter about separation of church and state) is included in the Textbooks of Texas? Will they see to it that his efforts to derail Alexander Hamilton and Hamilton’s love of strong centralized, if not imperial government were some of the strong points of his administration? Will they tell you about Jefferson’s hatred of public debt and how he saw it as a threat to liberty? Will the liberal schools tell of Jefferson’s dislike of standing armies and the danger they posed to liberty? Will they tell you that Jefferson considered it a fallacy that the State is subservient to the federal government? Will they tell you that Jefferson considered the Supreme Court the branch of government that posed the greatest threat to liberty?

In all likelihood, they will approach Jefferson as a rallying point, but not seek to actually present his ideology. Presently he is a token figure that the liberal types are rallying around to make their effort look good. By making Jefferson their focal point, they can claim a facade of patriotism, when they really want to include Betty Friedan, Cesar Chavez and others in the history books.

Are they really seeking the ‘real’ Thomas Jefferson, who actually took on the Mohammedean pirates of the Mediterranean? Are they wanting the real Thomas Jefferson who said that Texas would be the richest and most important State in the Union? -In all likelihood, they are not. They forget that Jefferson wanted LIMITED government. They only want the image of Jefferson, not his politics or his policies.

I do have to commend the Jefferson group on speaking out about US imperialism. They also want to include every two-bit socialist politician that had an axe to grind along with a plethora of Supreme Court cases along with the appointment of Sonia Sotomayor. (Never mind that she is opposed to freedom of speech for bloggers, that her opinions are frequently overturned, that she is an activist judge or that she is a member of the openly racist La Raza party-Since she is liberal, she is hereby deemed as worthy of being studied). Never mind mentioning how the Court has often avoided Southerners in the appointments or the how they refused the highly qualified Bork, but instead made a big deal about the controversial figure of Sotomayor. The agenda of this group is clear to me. They want to re-write the liberal version of history. They forget that in the government schools, the kids are so indoctrinated with names that including those of Marcus Garvey, Sotomayor, Chavez, etc. is a fool’s errand. Given that most of the graduates of the government schools don’t have a grasp of history as it is, their efforts are in vain. On seeing the notes and corrections, it is clear that the exclusion of Jefferson is only a rallying point. They do not care about Southern Statesmen or their ideas. He is only another person being used to promote their agenda.

It would be nice if the support of Thomas Jefferson was more than window dressing. It would be nice if they actually supported his ideas and put them into practice. It would be nice if we had smaller government, more liberty, more secession, and less imperialism.

That’s Entertainment!

In the times in which we live, one of the most uplifting sources of entertainment I have is reading the comments of liberals to the recent text book debates in Texas. Many of the liberals are livid at what happened in Austin. They have gone bonkers with the name calling and incoherent ramblings. They see Confederates everywhere and demonize the South. This collection from the Hays County Roundup are juicy.

Texas conservatives are more stupid than most American conservatives (except for those in the deep south). ”

or this one..

Texas conservatives are some of the stupidest people in the developed world (only to be outdone - maybe - by the other redneck Confederate states. ”

Or this…

The Texas public schools, following the lead of the evangelical conservatives on the SBOE, are being turned into armed security camps and propaganda institutes of Confederate and Republican Party revisionist history clamoring for the good ol’ days.

There were plenty more. What is apparent is that the liberals are spewing their rants at the recent decision of the State Board of Education. Just based on the quality of ranting, I would not vote for the people they endorse or the schools they represent. If the quality of writing is any indication of the reasoning ability of these persons, we are all in trouble. Education is supposed to prepare people for open debate and discussion of the issues of importance to a society and culture. That is clearly not happening. It seems that the mindset of these people are more focused on ‘indoctrination’ than allowing free discussions.

Enjoy the entertainment value of such comments. It tells me that we are making headway.

Signs of the Times

Across the empire, many States are delaying send out income tax refunds. At this point, the talk is about a few months. This action shows how little regard the States have for the citizen’s. When they demand funds from the citizen’s they are not so generous as they expect the citizens to be. I have already been hearing about how the empire is months behind in refunds as well. Although there has been lots of talk about stimulus, the reality is that …it is smoke and mirrors. When it comes to our money, they want time and patience, which they are not so willing to provide when the money is owed to them.

I support the adage of ‘render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s’. I wonder if the reverse of that is true as well?

Other signs of the times are that the New York Times is painting with a broad brush and claiming that all the people involved in the patriot movement are Confederate loving.
Although that would be nice, not all of them are that devoted to freedom and liberty. Through ignorance, many of the patriots do not recognize the the importance of liberty and how the Confederate cause was about liberty. Here in Texas, I saw some of that same rhetoric in the debates concerning the textbooks. It seems that whenever anyone disagrees with a liberal, they are branded as Jesus-loving, Confederate flag waving extremists. It seems that open-minded types are not so open-minded when they are disagreed with. The increasing rancor of the rhetoric and how it is driven by the NYT suggest that Southrons are being scapegoated once more as being the source of all problems in the empire.

Let us stand proud and be counted. We are driving them nuts.

Obama wants books banned

Although the left often makes ludicrous associations of the confederate flag with the National Socialist government of Germany, their efforts are nothing more than a straw man. It is a common ploy to ‘project’ ones issues onto the opposing faction. Those forces who are associated with liberty are often denigrated and made to appear as being opposed to liberty. In a glaring example of this, while the Obama regime argued its case before the Supreme Court regarding political speech, the blatantly called for the banning of books. They acknowledged that the government had the power to ban and wanted to ban some books. The regime is opposed to liberty, yet castigates others in order to cover their efforts. This regime, with its youth work camps, socialized medicine, hostile takeover of industries, imperialistic wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, takeover of Haiti), and other policies has done more to limit freedom than to expand it. The Obama regime and its policies have more in common with the totalitarian regime of Adolf Hitler than the public realizes.

Bear in mind that this administration recently worked to shut down gun shows in the Austin area as well. They hate guns, they hate free speech/liberty of the press, the encumber us with debt, they make us the laughing stock of the world with their apologies for actions that do not speak for the American people on. This regime is the enemy of liberty and freedom.

In a free South, there would be the liberty to have freedom of the press, when it comes to political thought. There would be freedom to bear arms, there would be freedom from the worry of the nation being invaded by immigrant hordes.

Debates over books and governors

Yesterday was an eventful day in Texas. The State Board of Education heard from people who are wanting faith and mentions of faith removed from textbooks. The tired and worn argument of ’separation of church and state’ were again used to remove mention of faith. Having written a book on Texas history, I do not know how they can tell the history of Texas without mentioning ‘faith’. Freedom of religion was one of the reasons cited for leaving Mexico. The Mexican government wanted all to swear to a single religious loyalty. They imprisoned or punished those of other faiths (when they were not outright killed). It was one of the major issues in the War of Texas Secession from Mexico.

My guess is that those who think that Texas was stolen from Mexico are closely kin to those who think religion/faith has no part in Texas history. The ‘open minded’ individuals who want censorship and the removal of faith also want the mention of the religious revivals taken from the text books. The Bible even talks about those who are ashamed of Him and how they will be considered by Him. There have been several great awakenings of Christian religion in America. They totally transformed the nation and it government. I guess the liberals do not want to acknowledge ‘true’ history. Whether or not they want to acknowledge it, it happened. One of those great revivals occurred during the War of Secession which led many men to convert and change the moral fabric of the nation. The revival broke out on the battlefields and in the prisons throughout the nation. If it was a political movement, I am sure that the liberals would include it. Since God received the glory rather than man, they dismissed it.

The debate was intense. The board did choose to remove Henry Cisneros (whose involvement in the Countrywide housing and finance scandal has been addressed several times here). They also removed Cesar Chavez, Ma Ferguson (probably because she was a Christian who stood up against evolution, and also embarresed many of the Democrats).

There was also the gubernatorial debate. In the debate, Perry managed to side step the issue of nullification, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson defended Roe v. Wade. Her defense of Roe v. Wade given the scam behind the case is reason enough to dump her. Debra Medina made a good showing in the debate and actively advocated the use of nullification in dealing with some of the issues. The fact that ‘nullification’ and ’secession’ are now becoming part of the discussion is good news. People are waking up to the viability of these options.
