Threats from Spanish Courts

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is in the news again. A Spanish court has taken the first step toward criminal investigations concerning six members of the Bush regime. The Spanish judge, Baltasar Garzón (who is known for his pursuit of human rights violations) submitted information to a prosecutors office for potential investigation. Although in a sovereign nation, the actions of Spanish courts would typically have no bearing on actions in the Union of States, this time things may be different.

Texas did its time under Spanish law. Our last taste of it included the ethnic cleansing of Texas. Women were raped, men were executed and martial law imposed as part of imposing Spanish rule. Santa Anna participated in the massive cleansing in the aftermath of the Battle of Medina. We have a history of surviving what life was like under Spanish law. We do not need a repeat of such atrocities, yet….

What makes the difference is that the regime of the Chosen One has nominated Harold Koh for the top legal position in the State Department. (Koh was a dean of the Yale law school, although being a professor at such an establishment does not mean that one is intelligent or has common sense.) Koh is a fan of tansnationalism. This is a legal theory which seeks to remove the legal distinctions between nations. He also wants to interpret the Constitution according to how other nations law and interpretations. If a lawyer like Koh has his way in the State Department, then what happens in the Spanish courts would not stay in the Spanish courts. What happens over there will impact what is done here.

Koh and his fellow travellers pose a threat to sovereingty. He wants to sell the empire out to the international legal system.  Alberto Gonzales advised the Bush regime on removing the Confederate plaques in Texas. He sold Texas and Texas Heritage out.Although I disapprove of his actions, it is not up to the Spanish legal system to take action. When international courts start attacking our rights and legal system, something is wrong, dead wrong with the system.

Koh’s nomination needs to be opposed.

Sovereignty needs to be preserved.

Texas Hold ‘em

At the recent conference where lawyers and businessmen discussed the sale of infrastructure to foreign entities, James M. Bass, the CFO of Tx DOT likened the process to playing a casino game. He knows its a gamble.

In a related story, the Texas Transportation Council defied the empire and decided to go ahead and work with the Spanish company in taking control of the toll road on SH 121 in North Texas. This will raise the toll for the citizens without any added service. These people are going to do this job with Spain come hell or high water. Although I like it when Texas agencies stand up to the Empire, I do not see this one benefiting the citizens of Texas.

Right now it is a big casino game and the odds are against us an din favor of the house.

Recall that the largest battle ever fought in Texas was not against Mexico, or even the Yankees, it was against Spanish forces in the Battle of Medina.

PS-Sal I agree the the TxDOT is running renegade. In watching the news stories, it is not clear to me who is in control and where the loyalties lie. What is clear is that the Citizens of Texas (past, present and future) are being victimized financially by their dealings. Selling off infrastructure paid for with tax dollars is wrong. Letting foreign companies control the infrastructure is wrong. These actions amount to surrendering sovereignty of Texas to outsiders. Sam Houston was wrong in selling New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Oklahoma to the United States and the modern sell-out, TxDOT is wrong in selling parts of Texas to Spain. They need to be watched and opposed every step of their underhanded ways.
