While other cultural issues have distracted us, there are some politicians like State Senator Leticia Van de Putte who have been sniping at our heritage through her relentless attacks on the DRT (Daughters of the Republic of Texas). She has attacked their management of the Alamo and handling of finances in administering this shrine of Texas liberty. It is just like a liberal to attack anything that symbolizes or has connection with heritage and liberty. When the liberals get their hands on such items, they often twist and distort historic events and the meaning behind them as we have seen at many historic battlefields, and like I witnessed at UT’s exhibit on the King James Bible, where they idolized the tyrant Lincoln and other liberal icons, while ignoring his mas murders and how he made that same Bible contraband for the South. The exhibit managed turning the Bible into the inspiration for the thoughts of many liberals along with artwork and tattoos. Never mind the men and women that gave their lives in order to pass it down to us. I have seen what the liberals did to the King James Bible, and I am sure that the Alamo would have a similar treatment if turned over to the likes of Leticia van de Putte and her ilk. Presently the attacks are political. She is using finances and law to shift more of the control over to the State.
Heritage fights are not just about the flag. They include attacks on our shrines, memorials, and landmarks. It is not just vandalism, but also changes in policy and rewriting history, such as no longer including “Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad, Remember Tampico” being shouted at the San Jacinto Battlefield like the Texians did on that April afternoon in 1836.
Instead of having our heritage ridiculed and attacked it needs to be celebrated and remembered. The best thing that the people of San Antonio could do is to vote State Senator van de Putte out of office and shout “Remember the Alamo!” as they vote for her opponent.
Liberty for Texas!
