It seems that the current politicos all want to blame others for the current financial mess. In the latest installment, Representative Barney Frank is blaming Tom Delay for the financial mess of Fannie Mae.
It continues to amaze me how that Tom Delay was blamed for so many problems. Here in Texas, he saw to it that Congressional districts were redrawn so as to weaken democratic representation. Bear in mind that for many decades, the democrats saw to it that their districts, like the one I was in at the time were perpetual election machines. The representative at the time was Mike Andrews, His district was drawn so as to insure that he would always be elected. This kind of politicking had gone on for years in Texas. When Delay stepped in, he changed the districts and gave the democrats a taste of their own medicine.
Then the democrats rallied to defeat him. They pulled in money and contributors from around the empire and internationally to defeat Delay. I was furious that people from around the nation were trying to deprive my vote and influence in Congress. What business was it of theirs who that district in Texas elected. He was the person chosen by the people of that portion of Texas. The folks in California and New York should have minded their own business. But, as typical of the Yankee mindset, they had to meddle in the affairs of Texas, and more specifically my part of Texas. The evil ones pulled in the Travis County district attorney in an attempt to bring down my Congressman. Such is Texas politics.
Texas politics are tough enough, but now Barney Frank wants to blame him for the Fannie Mae problem? PLEASE..haven’t the Yankee meddlers done enough? The federal programs that created the mess were passed under the Clinton regime. But will they blame him? NO. Instead they will blame the Bush regime for their problems. It has not occurred to them that government is the problem. The more government intervention, the bigger the problem. The chickens have started coming home to roost and now they are looking for straw dogs to blame things on. Since Delay was often demonized, they blame him again.
Instead, follow the money. Look at who Fannie Mae contributed money to:

Recall, that it was the democrats who refused allowing oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. People forget that Rahm Emmanuel was on the panel that was supposed to oversee Freddie Mac. (Hmmm… any conflict of interest?).
What is clear is this. The regime is looking for people to blame. Tom Delay is the latest person to blame. They can only lay so much on Bush, now they need someone else to blame. Rather than butch up and take responsibility they only seek blame and MORE government intervention.
We need LESS government intervention, less blaming and more accountability.
