Freedom of the press, fairness and paybacks

During the Constitutional War (aka-War of Northern Aggression; The Second War of American Independence), the Confederate States of America never shut down the press. There were outbursts where the citizenry opposed the policy of the nation. There were episodes when the governors opposed the policies of President Davis. Even with the diversity of opinion, the presses were not stopped like they were in the north.

The current regime has not only idolized the tyrant Lincoln, they are mirroring many of his actions in terms of dealing with diverse opinions. It is not by accident the the regime is toying with the ‘fairness doctrine’ (another deceptive name, which they are so fond of using). Not only is diversity of opinion being scrutinized, but so is access to information needed to make informed decisions.

The same kind of heavy handed attitude held by Seward, who threatened those daring to speak out against the administration with punishment is seen once again in CONgressman Henry Waxman conducting a CONgressional investigation into the pay of insurance company executives. (Gee, since he was one of the co-authors of the health care bill, isn’t it a conflict of interest for him to investigate these people? I guess when you write the laws, it somehow places one above the law.) If the insurance company wants to pay its executives and give them perks, it is NOT the business of CONgress to investigate how they do their business. Such investigations are meddling. CONgress can’t even run its own businesses such as the Post Office or Amtrak and earn a profit. Even though they can’t run a business, they want to investigate other businesses and tell them how to do things as a ‘punishment’ for daring to question the policies they are attempting to ram down the American public. Instead of Seward’s famous bell, they now do Congressional investigations.

The self-righteous Congressmen involved claim the investigation was do to recent increases in what the insurance company charges their customers. With that kind of logic, who will investigate the sudden increase in the tax burden of the citizens? I guess once again, those writing the laws are exempt from the laws. Yet, if they are exempt from the law, then we are not under rule of law, since rule of law specifies that all are equal before the law and must be held accountable to the law (the original idea behind the concept of ‘all men are created equal’) . If the nation is not under rule of law, it is therefore under fiat law or law by decree.

Liberty for Texas and the South!
