Please ignore the man behind the curtain

Janet Napolitano has been in the news lately. Although she was touted as being the Governor of Arizona, I was curious as to what led to her being appointed to her position and how did it happen?

Well, by vocation she is a lawyer. She has paid her Democratic party dues. In her career, she served as an attorney for Anita Hill in her claims against Clarence Thomas. Prior to being Governor she served as Attorney General for the State of Arizona and as the US Attorney for Arizona. She was also a key player in the Timothy McVeigh trial, having secured a witness against him who is now in the witness protection program. She has spoken twice at the Democratic National Convention (2000, 2004).

In the news recently, she is credited with saying that illegal immigrants are not criminals.  She is credited with first eliminating the term “War on Terror”, then the term “enemy combatants” and now even the word “terrorism”. The purposeful manipulation of words is a page out of the Nazi play book. Hitler’s regime practices control of how the masses thought by changing the words they used. Her department is already not allowed access to select websitesShe is also credited with viewing the right wing and returning military veterans as potential terrorists.  Many of her actions and decisions are regarded as ‘outrageous”.

Given her rise in political circles, she is no dunce or dunderhead. She managed to turn around the financial status of Arizona without raising taxes. She is an experienced manager and knows what she is doing. Recall that the executive branch of the government gives the marching orders to all of the department heads. She is carrying out her orders. She is enforcing the laws and policies that the executive branch decides as priorities.

How did she land in her position? If her statements got your blood boiling then you may not really want to know. She and many of the other appointments were confirmed in a package vote. The vote was done by voice vote and was not recorded. In other words there is no record as to who voted for her appointment. Here in Texas we do not know if John Cornyn or Kay Bailey Hutchinson sold us out. The regime has purposefully made it impossible to tell the difference between supporters and the opposition. With a voice vote the Senators can hide their activities, along with casting dispersion on others. By hiding what was done, the powers that be knew that there were problems. By voting as part of a package deal on the appointments, the administration was able to bypass any scrutiny. The Hussein regime knew what it was doing would not stand the light of scrutiny then. The whole situation is reminiscent of how the Clinton regime had Janet Reno take heat for many of its choices. I suspect that the Hussein regime is killing two birds with one stone. Napolitano is receiving the reward for long term support of the party and she is also serving as the lighting rod to deflect negativity from the administration.

It is as if the scene from the Wizard of Oz is unfolding in front of us. Although she is the one in the limelight, the man behind the curtain is the one decideing the policies to be enforced and setting the priorities. While she is taking the heat, the message is to “Please ignore the man behind the curtain”.

The first 100 days of the regime are nearly done. It looks like a rough ride ahead.

Liberty for Texas!
