It behooves all Texians to remember what was accomplished in the War for Texas Independence. From the time of “Come and Take it Days” in Gonzales through the end of the year and until Texas Independence Day, we should recall and remember what happened. It took courage for those brave Texians to stand up to the Mexican Tyranny when they defied Mexican authorities at Duncan’s Landing in Gonzales Texas. Imagine what was involved in saying “NO” to the Federales. Although the town of Mexia took the stand of proclaiming independence, it was at Gonzales, where talk became action.
What did it take for colonists to take up arms and stand on the river bank that morning, knowing that it may cost them their homes, families and lives? They stood there in defense of LIBERTY. They were not there in the name of government handouts, bailouts, soicalized programs, medicare, or social security. They were there in the name of Liberty. When stands are made, it is for a government that preserves liberty, not in the name of social agendas. The purpose of government is to preserve our liberties, which includes keeping the revenues we generate. The fruit of our labor is rightly ours, not our overlords.
The colonists did not stand on the banks of that river staring down the Mexican troops in the name of social security benefits.
Remember what liberty is about and Free Texas!
