After a second confirmed case of mad cow disease in US beef, many of the nations that formerly imported our beef are shutting their doors to it. The fact that China, the nation who has shipped all kinds of poisoned and dangerous materials refuses US beef aught to tell you something. When US beef does not meet Chinese or Mexican standards, something is up.
On the surface, stories such as this make it sound like the mad cow scare is being blown out of proportion. The reality is something different. Several years ago a family friend died after eating mad cow beef in Texas. They did not know the beef was tainted at the time. after they died of the mad cow disease, I combed the papers and found no mention of what happened or the threat. At the time, there was little if any coverage in the press. The incident did alert me to the fact that this disease is real and that the press and the government are not letting the people know the extent it is going on. Nations would not shut their doors to imports based solely on two cases. Those other nations apparently know more about the state of matters than we do.
It behooves us to consider a return to agrarian ways. We need to grow more of our own produce, and be cautious concerning other food products. History has shown us that it is not beyond the government to lie or mislead the citizenry. The biggest modern lie is “I’m from the government and I am here to help you”. When someone tell you that, rest assured that altruism is not what is behind their actions.
